ARTIFICIAL LIFE AND MACHINE PERCEPTION (2001)

Project supported under the development grant FRVS No. 1880/2001 "New Knowledge -Integration into the Educational Process and the Innovations of the Selected Seminars” of the Ministry of Education of Czech Republic

The aims of the development project covered not only the topics focused on the innovations of five lectures and seven laboratory projects and integratition of new knowledge to the courses, but also the topics focused on the creation of the appropriate and exhaustive educational materials, and hyper-text and multimedia educational materials supporting the lectures and seminars. The next aim of this project was laid to the creation and implementation of the database of the articles, research reports, books and other publications concerning the brain and cognition sciences, Bionics, computational intelligence, medical data processing. Both theconceptions of the lectures and the ones of the seminars were realised in accordance to the aims well and exactly formulated in the development project proposal. Several educational covering the topics listed bellow texts were created - Independent Component Analysis, Biofeedback, Artificial Life and a Simulator Tierra, Machine Listening, Machine Vision, Biological Principles of the Smell, The Basic Principles of the Artificial Smell, The Simulation of the Cellular Processes. The demos were implemented in MATLAB with the applications of the toolboxes Simulink, Signal, ICA and Auditory. The examples demonstrating the applications of  the artificial life simulator Tierra was implemented in the environment of this simulator.
