|Description:||The project aims to explore existing sources of geodata and ways to access them in order to create a software tool allowing to generate layered support materials (maps and obstacles), which will be used for onboard cockpit instruments. The work will survey through the existing geo databases with free access. We are interested in their access mechanism, a description of the method of data storage and data interfaces available. The required information includes data about DEM, AIP, restricted areas, air spaces, navigational elements and dangerous objects. In parallel, layered data storage formats should be explored and a suitable structure proposed for future use. In the next step, an application should be designed allowing for data retrieval from selected sources, multi-layered support files generation and creation of the appropriate atlases. The application (generator) can be created as a completely new program, or any of the existing "atlas creators" can be customized.
