Jeremy Bonnin is a master student from ESTA Bretagne, France. This presentation
will summarize his end of studies project he did during his 5 months stay at
our
Department.

Colorectal cancer is the cancer with the second highest mortality rate in the
Czech Republic. Histopathological examination of the biopsy samples is needed
to
confirm the disease and its subtype. Data at our disposal consists of tissue
samples from more than 1500 samples with the location of the tumour and
non-tumour regions marked approximately by pathology experts. A computational
diagnosis system for detecting the colorectal cancer from
histopathological slices is proposed.

The chosen approach combines both textural and structural features from patch
images. The results are encouraging and comparable to the state of the art.
