Over the recent years, research on object detection has made tremendous
progress
thanks to the contributions of the computer vision and pattern recognition
communities. This paper presents the state-of-the art of the area of visual
tracking during tests of moving objects. After defining the background and the
goals of this project, different methods to detect an object and follow it in a
video will be reviewed. Even though the list of methods remains exhaustive, the
main visual tracking methods will be covered. Finally, the last part of this
report highlights the different software tools used to apply those different
methods. What is more, a demonstration of the tests and results of our work
trip at the Levant Island will end this presentation to see the limits of the
possible applications and improvements.
