Description:3D reconstruction is the problem of estimating the 3D structure of the scene from images. Typical 3D reconstruction systems first compute the camera poses of the input images and a sparse 3D point cloud of the scene via Structure-from-Motion. The camera poses are then used to create a dense point cloud of the scene via Multi-View Stereo, followed by creating a 3D mesh out of the resulting point cloud. The goal of this project is not to create a highly detailed mesh, but rather a 3D model composed of Lego bricks. Given a dense point cloud, the project will develop an algorithm that computes how to build a Lego model out of individual bricks that best approximates the point cloud in terms of shape and color while using as few bricks as possible.
