| Abstract: |  The purpose of this thesis is to design and implement Java application displaying the Earth sur-face in 3D space. After a theoretical introduction into available methods for terrain rendering, we decided to use quad trees that helped us to display satellite images of the Earth in di erent LOD. Main part of the thesis deals with implementation of the Earth surface visualization.
Our goal is to create an application able to ergonomically control air-traffic visualization. It was ful lled. We can control the application in a similar way as Google Earth and we are able to provide terrain displaying fluently, fast enough and in a proper resolution.
