Department of Cybernetics, Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, is a reasearch and teaching unit in the fields of  artificial intelligence, machine perception, cybernetics, robotics, and biomedical engineering with the focus on computer vision, machine perception, pattern recognition, machine learning, mobile and collective robotics, data mining, knowledge systems, assistive technologies, medical data processing and biological and medical signal and image processing. The research in these areas is carried out in several cooperating research groups and teams.

Department of Cybernetics currently participates in several bachelor and master study programs, offering a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate courses. Our department is also responsible for the doctoral branch of study “Artificial Intelligence and Biocybernetics” with more than 50 Ph.D. students enrolled.

Our Mission

We strive primarily for excellent research and training of young researchers in the field of artificial intelligence, machine perception, robotics, and biomedical engineering. We foster international cooperation with prominent research centers over the world. We believe that excellent research positively influences the quality of education and the cooperation with industrial partners.

We strive for top education. We try to endow our students especially with persistent, long-term knowledge of system sciences, completed with up-to-date research findings. We believe that graduates with such a knowledge can easily find their jobs in both academia and industry, from management and economics, to ICT, to e.g. automotive industry.

We strive for the transfer of our research results to practice by means of cooperation with industry.
