Boris Escalante Ramirez presents The Hermite Transform: A biological-inspired vision model and its applications to image processing

On 2015-11-19 - 2015-11-19 11:00:00 at G205, Karlovo náměstí 13, Praha 2
The Hermite transform is an image representation model inspired by some of
the most important properties of human vision, such as the Gaussian model
of early vision and the overlapping receptive fields. In this talk, the
Hermite transform will be presented emphasizing its most appealing
properties, such as shift invariance, redundancy, multiscale, local
orientation analysis and fast algorithm. Finally, different applications of
the Hermite transform will be presented, namely image noise reduction,
image fusion and motion estimation.

Boris Escalante was born in Mexico City. He obtained the Electrical Eng.
Degree in 1985 from the National University of Mexico, the Master of
Electronics in 1986 from the Philips International Institute of
Technological Studies, in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, and a Ph.D. from the
Eindhoven University of Technology in 1992. Since this same year he has
been with the National University of Mexico where he is currently Full
Professor in the Signal Processing Department of the School of Engineering.
He has authored more than 150 papers in peer reviewed journals, book
chapters, and conference proceedings. His research interests are image
representation models, image processing and computer vision.
