Ing. Robert Pěnička, PhD. awarded the prestigious GA ČR JUNIOR STAR grant

Congratulations to the MRS Group member Ing. Robert Pěnička, PhD. for earning a prestigious grant project: JUNIOR STAR from GA ČR!

The Czech Science Foundation (GA ČR)  announced the results of the JUNIOR STAR project, which is intended for excellent scientists in their early careers. Only a fragment of submitted works receive funding and our team member Robert Pěnička succeeded with his project entitled TOPFLIGHT: Trajectory and Mission Planning for Agile Flight of Aerial Robots in Cluttered Environments.

His research focuses on methods of controlling and trajectory planning of autonomous drones that are able to fly at exceptionally high speed in poorly accessible environments. The proposed method is intended for search and rescue scenarios, which require the drones to fly as fast as possible to find survivors after natural disasters.

The JUNIOR STAR grant will help Robert to finance his project for the time being of 5 years. It allows him to receive up to CZK 25 million, and therefore brings a lot of opportunities for the project’s research.
