Donation of 19 PCs to elementary school Králův Dvůr

Last year, the council of the Dept. of Cybernetics decided to reduce the number of PCs in both computer labs from 30 to 20. In each computer lab, we thus have 10 seats without computers which are popular among students who bring their own notebooks and who also appreciate free space on their desks. The computer labs are now more appropriate for seminar type of teaching since the removed displays do not obstruct the view towards the whiteboard and the teachers can see the students better.

Needless to say, we had to figure out what to do with the removed computers. They were not new, but discarding them would have been a waste. We decided to donate the computers to the elementary school of Králův Dvůr. The school received the computers at the beginning of this year.

According to the information from the school headmaster, Ing. Krob, the computers were used

  • to replace some of the existing PCs in classrooms,
  • to improve the equipment of a new audiovisual lab, and
  • one of the computers is dedicated as the school’s Minecraft server.

We are glad that our computers got an opportunity for a meaningful second life.
